Total speakers: Counting native speakers, those with limited proficiency, and students, the number of Spanish speakers exceeds 635 million, competing with Hindi for third place worldwide, after English and Chinese.

Second native language: With over 500 million native speakers, Spanish ranks second after Mandarin Chinese.

Official language: Spanish is the official language in 21 countries across three continents: the Americas (19), Europe (1), and Africa (1).Europe: Spain.North America: Mexico.Central America: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama.South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela. The Caribbean: Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico (Commonwealth).Africa: Equatorial Guinea. In addition, Spanish has a notable presence as a non-official language in countries such as the United States (the world’s second-largest Spanish-speaking community), Belize, Andorra, and regions of Africa such as Western Sahara.

Growth: By 2025, the number of Spanish speakers had grown by about 5%, adding 30 million more, reaching a total of 635.743 million at the time of measurement.

Are there still any doubts about the strength of the Spanish language?
